[ November the 1st, 2024 self-release Dan Pitt Quartet – Horizontal Depths ]
Canadian guitarist Dan Pitt announces their second album of polymorphous jazz with the second recording of his Quintet, titled Horizontal Depths, with the music purposely written with every individual in the band in mind. That’s the step up from their debut, which was reinterpreting leader’s earlier repertoire. The album is self – release. The release will be followed with band Canadian tour.
“Dan Pitt is one of Toronto’s brightest jazz lights. Whether he’s solo, leading his trio or quintet, he’s a bubbling cauldron of creative ideas and stellar improvisation.” — Mike Greenblatt, Goldmine
“Pitt is an interesting composer whose work we want to keep an eye on. This set, by turns delicate and vigorous, hangs together nicely and cohesively, demonstrating the contemporary art of this trio.” — Filipe Freitas, JazzTrail
“The word “atmospheric” fits this cohesive set of Pitt originals. But it is “atmospheric” with guts. Composed sections slip into intervals of fluid improvisation, with an equilibrium of inspired instrumental input pervading, on a promising debut that has no fundamental flaws.” — Dan McClenaghan, All About Jazz
[ May 17th, 2024 release on Elastic Recordings: John Kameel Farah & Nick Fraser – Farahser ]

” World-renowned composer-pianist John Kameel Farah is versed in classical, minimalist, jazz, electronic and Arabic music, and performs with piano, synthesizer, computer and, at times, harpsichord and organ. His latest album, Time Sketches, blends these elements with symphonic vision and fluidity.” — Peter Ellman, Exclaim!
” The Toronto drummer is perhaps a little too progressive for the hidebound Canadian scene. A deft and sensitive percussionist with a hint of an enigmatic streak, a feeling for economical gestures and an innate sense of form.” — Mark Miller, The Globe and Mail
