Newvelle Records Announces For All Your Flowers — A Rare and Transformative Duo Album from Skúli Sverrisson and Bill Frisell
Newvelle Records is honoured to present For All Your Flowers (NV040), the latest instalment in the Newvelle Ten series and a luminous new chapter in the extraordinary collaboration between Icelandic bassist-composer Skúli Sverrisson and iconic guitarist Bill Frisell. Available August 1, 2026 and recorded over two days in June 2025 at EastSide Sound in New York City, this duo recording captures a dialogue of rare intimacy and depth between two of the most distinctive voices in modern music.
There is truly nothing else like it. When Sverrisson and Frisell first met in the studio for their 2018 Newvelle release Strata, the result was nothing short of revelatory. The album was hailed by critics and listeners alike as a milestone, a timeless document of musical empathy. At the time, Frisell reflected on their chemistry: “[Skúli] built this structure that didn’t have anything blocking me but it was holding me up the whole time. It feels like we’ve known each other longer than we have. And it feels like the start of something.” For All Your Flowers confirms that intuition—this is not merely a continuation, but an evolution of their shared voice.
The record’s ten tracks—all but one composed by Sverrisson, with Frisell contributing the tender “Baby”—are miniature worlds that bloom in the duo’s hands. From the opening shimmer of “Thank You for Taking Me There and Back” to the fragile uplift of the title track, each piece unfolds with patient lyricism, transparency, and trust. Sverrisson’s bass anchors the music with both gravity and grace, while Frisell’s guitar drifts, whispers, and sings, creating an atmosphere that feels at once rooted and otherworldly.

Recorded by Marc Urselli and mastered by Matthew Lutthans, the album is rendered with pristine warmth, drawing the listener close into the intimate space between two musicians who seem to breathe as one. Produced by Elan Mehler and JC Morisseau, with artwork by iconic Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson , For All Your Flowers is as visually striking as it is sonically.
With For All Your Flowers, Sverrisson and Frisell offer more than a collection of songs—they offer a rare invitation into a shared dreamscape, one where silence is as eloquent as sound, and where each note feels like a gift.
For All Your Flowers will be available as part of Newvelle Ten in 2025.
