Guitarist/vocalist Ava Mendoza will release Alive Alone, Alive Together on B, May 22, 2026.
The album features eight tracks of Mendoza’s trademark bluesy electric guitar and heartfelt vocals, some of which also feature legendary drummer Hamid Drake. Recorded live across the US and Europe in 2025, it includes radically transformed versions of tracks from Mendoza’s albums New Spells and The Circular Train, as well as brand-new music. The album was mixed by electronic musician Submerged, which gives it a powerful psychedelic edge.
The first single, “Dust From the Mines,” featuring Drake, is available on Bandcamp and most streaming services today.

Ava Mendoza (guitar, vocals) has recorded and performed in a broad range of contexts over the last two decades. Mendoza’s last Burning Ambulance release, 2025’s Mama Killa, was a collaboration with violinist gabby fluke-mogul and drummer Carolina Pérez that earned rave reviews from The Wire, Last Rites, Bandcamp Daily, and I Care If You Listen, among others.
Alive Alone, Alive Together will be released on May 22, 2026 digitally and as a limited edition of 500 CDs in heavy-duty gatefold mini-LP sleeves printed on textured paper, with artwork by Burning Ambulance Music co-founder I.A. Freeman.
