Saxophonist Loren Stillman Unveils Seer, A Masterful Trio Album with Craig Taborn and Thomas Morgan, Released As Part Of Newvelle Records 10th Anniversary Collection
Newvelle Records proudly presents Seer (NV039), the striking new album from alto and soprano saxophonist Loren Stillman, recorded with the extraordinary pianist Craig Taborn and bassist Thomas Morgan. Available April 24, 2026 as part of the Newvelle Ten Collection, Seer is a deeply immersive work that showcases three of today’s most remarkable voices in jazz, each with a career defined by creativity, virtuosity, and innovation.
Recorded February 1–2, 2025 at EastSide Sound in New York City, Seer balances precision and freedom, composition and improvisation, melody and abstraction. Stillman, a former student of Lee Konitz, has long been celebrated for his lyrical and adventurous approach to saxophone, with recordings and performances alongside luminaries including Paul Motian, Charlie Haden, and John Abercrombie. Taborn, one of the most inventive pianists of his generation, brings a harmonic and textural sophistication that elevates every note, while Thomas Morgan’s lyrical bass playing anchors the trio with warmth, nuance, and boundless creativity.

The album’s ten tracks—originals by Stillman with a contribution from Morgan (“Return”)—unfold like an intimate conversation. From the reflective opening “Waterworks” to the contemplative title track “Seer” and the radiant closer “Victory Lap,” each piece demonstrates the trio’s extraordinary capacity to communicate with clarity, spontaneity, and deep emotional resonance.
Seer also benefits from Newvelle Records’ signature attention to artistry beyond music. The album’s packaging features striking original artwork by internationally acclaimed visual artist Ragnar Kjartansson, whose evocative and immersive work mirrors the music’s elegance and depth. The combination of sound and visual art makes the release a fully realized experience for listeners and collectors alike.
Recorded by Rocky Russo, mixed by Marc Urselli, and mastered by Matthew Lutthans, with pressing by QRP, Seer embodies Newvelle’s commitment to unparalleled sound quality and fidelity.
