ZEV FELDMAN’S TIME TRAVELER RECORDINGS ANNOUNCES TWO MORE REISSUES FROM THE CATALOG OF THE LEGENDARY MUSE RECORDS
The second set of releases on the Muse Master Edition Series arrives on January 30, 2026 with deluxe reissues of albums by Woody Shaw and Joe Chambers. Packages Feature Notes by Bill Milkowski and Bob Blumenthal, New Photos and More.
Time Traveller Recordings – the new archival label founded by record producer and Jazz Detective Zev Feldman – returns with the second run of releases in the Muse Master Edition Series. Launched in October 2025 with classic titles from Roy Brooks, Kenny Barron and Carlos Garnett, the landmark series presents reissues from the historic Muse Records catalogue.
January 30, 2026 will see the release of Love Dance, the 1976 masterpiece by legendary trumpeter Woody Shaw; and Double Exposure, an intriguing and long-sought-after 1978 outing that finds master drummer/multi-instrumentalist Joe Chambers in varying duo combinations with organist Larry Young. Subsequent major releases will follow quarterly, with several more titles by Shaw as well as undersung classics from artists such as João Donato, Clifford Jordan and more.
As with all of its releases, Time Traveler will provide Muse collectors and aficionados with what Feldman calls, “The Rolls Royce, ultra-deluxe vinyl experience.” The exclusive vinyl sets will be available only as a limited release, issued on 180-gram LPs (pressed at Germany’s Optimal Media), analog mastered directly from the original tapes by the acclaimed engineer Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab in Salina, Kansas. They will be issued in high-gloss tip-on jackets furnished by respected printer, Stoughton Press, with new liner essays by Bob Blumenthal for Love Dance and Bill Milkowski for Double Exposure. The packaging will mirror a facsimile of the original productions with additional upgrades.
“Love Dance and Double Exposure are timeless recordings which have been cherished by jazz fans since they were initially released,” says Feldman. “Both are deserving of an upgrade in terms of the whole package – the vinyl, the jacket, the liner notes, the mastering.”

Produced by the renowned, multiple Grammy-winning producer and historian Michael Cuscuna, Love Dance was Shaw’s second release for Muse. The date featured a stellar ensemble of young, progressive players, many of whom were instrumental in shaping the evolution of jazz through the ‘70s and beyond: saxophonists Billy Harper and René McLean, trombonist Steve Turre, pianist Joe Bonner, bassist Cecil McBee, drummer Victor Lewis and percussionists Guilherme Franco and Tony Waters. “There will be other Woody Shaw albums to come in the Muse Master Edition Series,” Feldman promises, “but we thought this would be a really great one to start with.”

Double Exposure is a unique session that showcases Chambers’ imagination and prowess not only on the drums, but also on piano, electric piano and other percussion. He paired up for the occasion with the great Larry Young on organ and synthesizer. Largely comprising investigatory keyboard excursions, the album concludes with a pair of blistering, rock-inspired duos for drums and organ. The track “Mind Rain” was later sampled by Nas for the landmark single “N.Y. State of Mind,” named by Rolling Stone as one of the “100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs of All Time.”
“I remember going through a major phase about 25 years ago, when I was trying to get my ears on anything that Larry Young was on,” shares Feldman. “Double Exposure was an album that took me quite a while to find, though ultimately it more than rewarded the search.”
A veritable trove of long-obscured treasures from some of the era’s most forward-looking artists, Muse Records was founded in 1972 by legendary producer and record executive Joe Fields. The label was conceived as a contemporary evolution of the legacy of Prestige Records, where Fields had worked, along with other torch-carrying independent labels like Riverside and Milestone. The imprint’s reemergence is a welcome one for jazz fans, especially under Feldman’s avid and dedicated stewardship. “The music took me back instantly,” wrote Marc Myers of JazzWax about the initial reissues. “And the fidelity is sterling.” Each release in the Muse Records Master Edition series is licensed officially from Craft Recordings.
“I like to think of myself as the guy standing on the mountaintop and waving the flag for the great Muse Records label,” Feldman says proudly. “I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to do this series for all my fellow record collectors out there who have been waiting so long.”
