Le Guess Who?
Upon returning to Holland, it’s time for the Le Guess Who? festival in Utrecht, by far one of Holland’s most ambitious and adventurous festivals. Han was one of the curators this year, and we’re proud to say he’s selected a gathering of exciting musicians who will meet each other in provocative musical combinations. Below is the list of gigs in which Han himself is playing, but he’s also curated many in which he’s not at the drum kit. For accurate start times and venue details please consult the Le Guess Who? website.

ICP 057
In other news, Han’s exhibition opening and book launch in Bergen’s Museum Kranenburgh earlier this month were a smashing success, but you’d have to check out our Facebook page to see the photos. However there is a podcast episode about the exhibition and the making of the book here (sorry, it’s in Dutch only), and the book itself is now available from Subterranean Distribution. Han will return to Kranenburg on November 19 to play an afternoon show with the Quartet NL band (Peter Beets, Benjamin Hermann, Ruud Jacobs, and Han), more info here.
ICP 058
Lastly, coming very soon, ICP 058. What’s that, you ask? Well it’s a vinyl reissue/remaster of Misha Mengelberg: Pech Onderweg:
Originally released as BVHaast 016, this is a solo Misha performance from 1979. All Music Guide said of the original LP release: “…a totally concentrated Mengelberg unleashes a performance that seems to taunt the listeners with aspects of so many different kinds of piano music, at the same time carefully developing and filing each for later use, perhaps in this piece or perhaps in the next century…a fascinating probe of jazz piano.”
We have remastered the original tapes in an attempt to present a more hi-fi version of what transpired that night in 1979 at the Bimhuis….can’t wait to see what you’ll think! The LP will be available from Subterranean Distribution in December 2017.
And that’s it for now, but stay tuned for lots more in 2018!
Until then, please….come and see us!
Thank you!!!
