As a huge fan of this wonderful music collective, deeply devoted and endlessly listening to everything they only recorded and I could put my hands on it I have a greatest pleasure to announce their 50th Anniversary Artistic Season ! I wish them hundred years of the best health and never ending creativity !
Hello friends, and welcome to the ICP Orchestra’s 2016-2017 season, our 50th! That’s right, ICP has been sticking spokes in all wheels since 1967, and we hope to continue spoke-sticking for as long as there are wheels.
One development that will assist us greatly in that respect is that last month ICP received a positive advice from the Fonds Podium Kunsten (FPK), the most important governmental subsidy organisation in the Netherlands for music, dance and theatre. We are extremely grateful for and humbled by this show of support, especially when so many friends and colleagues were not as fortunate.
However, while the FPK funding helps us keep the lights on and the band members paid, there are still many things we’d like to do over the coming few years that are not feasible without your support. We continue to maintain our ANBI status, which means that gifts from private donors to the ICP can be deducted against income tax. And with this help, many other kinds of 50th anniversary activities become possible, such as an archive of unreleased live ICP recordings, reissues of long-out-of print releases, an array of educational initiatives, “Mishakosmos”, an easy-to-play piano book of Misha Mengelberg compositions, and well who knows? In any case, we will keep you informed of upcoming projects as they materialize.
