The third Peuker 8’s album, Radiance goes even further beyond what their last year’s WPJ debut Influx set up as a boundary. Or shall I say rather the lack of ones, TBPH. The Octet of young musicians led by the guitarist Paul Peuker definitely is showing themselves as a new voice on XXI century music firmament and they made a milestone in their achievement since bands 2014’s Nabel records debut Resound.

For their album “Look At Me” (Traumton Records), released at the end of 2016, pianist Andreas Lammel, drummer Florian Lauer and bassist René Bornstein received a “Jazz Echo” nomination and a lot of praise from all sides. The jazz editor of Deutschlandfunk Kultur was enthusiastic about the “unbelievably beautiful sound“, Concerto recognised “high intuitive art of improvisation.” The Fränkische Landeszeitung said: “This jazz has developed its own language, is intelligent, but never cramped or top-heavy very charming, adventurous and airy, slightly floating. “In the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Norbert Krampf wrote about a concert:” [LLB] know how to keep an audience happy without giving in to flamboyant entertainment. This debut album of Mark Weschenfelder’s Zwitschermachine has an especially independent character, as Krautrock, Psychedelic, Ambient, Groove and Post-M-Base shimmer through. But it remains unmistakably unique within the onrushing flow of musical events. You hear something strange, but as you listen, the music’s mystery becomes more and more accessible – that’s part of the enjoyment!
